The Abu Dhabi Falcons Football Club was established in 2007 when a group of Australian expats decided to get together to play footy. The inaugural Falcons meeting was undertaken at the Captains Arms, and the first hit out for the boys was part of a nine-a-side tournament held in Dubai.
In 2008, the Abu Dhabi Falcons, along the Dubai Dingoes joined the newly established AFL Middle East to become the 3rd and 4th clubs in the league. In March 2011 the Falcons culminated an unbeaten season by winning their first premiership against the Doha Kangaroos.
Dubbed the Falcons after Abu Dhabi’s favourite pastime Falconry, the club have been proudly supported since it’s inauguration by Etihad Airways as well as the loyal group of Australian, Irish and American expats located in the Emirate.
The club continues to play in the AFL Middle East league and welcomes anyone (player or volunteer) who is interested in becoming involved. Competitive nine-a-side games are played on rugby pitches approximately every 4 weeks during the cooler months. From September to March the team trains at 7pm Sunday nights on Pitch 15 at Zayed Sports City and welcomes newcomers of all skill levels and backgrounds – we have a number of lads with rugby and Gaelic football experience. If you are interested in playing please contact Tyron at firstname.lastname@example.org or on +971 566 124 221.
